Empire Model Number 46

This strange Anglo-American amalgamation is, i think, an Empire No.46 boiler and firebox
mounted on a Mamod SE2 base with engine. The plan is somehow to turn this back into a
complete Empire engine. The boiler is almost complete having both the whistle and
chimney/safety valve. Just the water sight glass is missing. There is a picture of a
complete Empire No.46 on the Empire Model Steam Engines page.

I was very lucky to spot this on ebay in the States and win the auction. This is a rather sad Empire No.46
but has exactly the parts i need to make a complete No.46 when combined with the one above. There are
a few differences between the two boilers, the electrical plug shroud is full on this one but only a half shroud
on the first one and the boiler's end seam is much thicker. From what little info there is on these engines it
would appear that the No.46 did come with these variations in the boiler. With the thick seam & full shroud
being the less common version.

Finally finished the fusing of the two engines plus the restoration, i think she turned out very well.

Here she is now mounted on the obligatory Al's Steam Engines base.
